May Military Appreciation Month

Since it's May 1st, there's no time like now to remind folks that this month is set aside for our military. Now for some us, every DAY is spent thanking our armed forces, but the rest of the population needs constant reminders and kicks in the collective asses to get with the program.

From the VFW website:

Legislation in the U.S. Senate in 1999 designated May as National Military Appreciation Month. This legislation tells our servicemembers that their country has set aside an entire month to honor, remember and appreciate them. More comprehensive legislation – House Concurrent Resolution 328 – was passed by unanimous consent of both Houses of Congress in April 2004.

National Military Appreciation Month includes:
• Loyalty Day, May 1
• National Day of Prayer, May 3,
• VE Day, May 8
• Military Spouse Day, May 11,
• Womens Veterans Week, May 14-20,
• Armed Forces Day, May 19, and
• Memorial Day, May 28.
